What is our Coach-in-Training Program?
The CIT program introduces new coaches to the various aspects of coaching gymnastics and prepares them for entry into the “Foundations” component of the Gymnastics Canada National Coaching Certification Program when they reach the age of 15, and upon completion of 150 coaching hours. The CIT program includes individual study, mentoring and hands-on coaching experience, under the supervision of a Trained Coach.
There are two types of coaching opportunities;
- Coach-in-Training - minimum 14 years of age and older with no previous coaching experience. A candidate who is enthusiastic, energetic and interested in learning how to coach can be a CIT. It is preferable to have had some previous ongoing gymnastics participation, which may be at either a recreational or competitive level.
- Coach of Gymnastics - coaching experience and has successfully completed Foundations Gymnastics and Trampoline coaching certification courses. Completion of Women's Artistic Gymnastics Level 2 or Competition Introduction coaching certification course would be an asset. Note, a Coach of Gymnastics would not have to participate in our Coach-in-Training Program.
